Frequently asked questions about Grand Canyon airplane tours

Do I need to book my Grand Canyon airplane tour in advance?

Yes, it's highly recommended to book your airplane tour at least a week or two in advance, especially during peak travel seasons or if you're traveling in a group. Tours often sell out quickly due to limited seating per flight.

Are Grand Canyon airplane tours suitable for children and seniors?

Yes, airplane tours are designed to be comfortable and suitable for people of all ages. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The flights are smooth, with large viewing windows and in-flight narration for all ages to enjoy.

What should I wear for a Grand Canyon airplane tour?

Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. A light jacket is also recommended, as temperatures can vary with altitude. Sunglasses and sunblock are helpful for added comfort.

Can I take pictures during the airplane tour?

Absolutely! Photography is encouraged. However, selfie sticks and extended camera poles are not allowed onboard for safety reasons. Be sure to bring a secure camera or use your phone.

What happens if my airplane tour is canceled due to weather?

If your tour is canceled due to bad weather conditions, such as strong winds, rain, or low visibility, you will typically be offered a rescheduled tour or a full refund, depending on the weather conditions and the tour operator.

Are food or drinks provided during the airplane tour?

Most airplane tours are short and do not include meals. Some extended tours may offer light refreshments or snack boxes. It’s a good idea to eat before your tour and carry water.

Should I combine an airplane tour with ground exploration of the Grand Canyon?

Yes! Many tours offer combined experiences, including ground tours, rim landings, or Hummer excursions. These provide a more comprehensive Grand Canyon experience, both from the sky and on foot.

Can I bring luggage or large bags on the airplane tour?

Due to space and weight constraints, large bags or luggage are generally not allowed on airplane tours. You can usually store them at the terminal or in your vehicle.

What an amazing trip this was. Our guide Gia was sooooo knowledgeable and such good fun. The Canyon itself was simply WOW. We did the sky walk and decided to add the helicopter and boat to our day and I can honestly say it was worth every penny. We will absolutely be back to Vegas and will use this company again.

It was incredible, we did the VIP tour to go underground along with up top. We were on a tour bus group, could have used at least another 1/2 hour there. But overall loved it. We have been to Vegas several times and this is the first time we've done the Dam tour. A must do.

Trading up to the front two seats is a must. Our first time in a helicopter, and we were amazed at the speed or lack there of. I asked the Pilot what our speed was, thinking it might be around 25 MPH. 155 MPH! Amazing. I never knew this ride could be so smooth, so quiet (Head phones included) so much fun. Smooth landings, not a hint of a bonce. The Hoover Dam is a Master piece. The majestry of the Grand Cayon will take your breath away. Folks, this is a must do thing. A bucket list thing, a once in a life time . DO IT!

This was amazing! We paid to upgrade to front seats and all I can say is WOW!! The pilot was awesome and we had very little turbulence. He was knowledgeable and had a great playlist! The view is spectacular and I was never afraid or got motion sickness. Landing in the canyon was a lot of fun! We loved the whole experience!

The views are fantastic! The airport and papillon building was excellent. I wish my 10 year old could have been closer to a window so he could see battleship rock. Our Danish pilot was polite but I think the language barrier was a factor in getting the most information about what we were seeing. I would still recommend this company!

I was amazed at the views as I walked the rim of the Canyon, but I didn't REALLY see the Grand Canyon until I went on the Papillon flight. You will see the immense scope of the canyon, and our pilot Paolo, was careful to make sure we could see it from as many angles as possible. I opted for the 45-minute tour and it was worth it. Highly recommended.
